The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change. Social Media Backlash Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping. Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces. They have suggested members to check their listings and manually change the size where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance. Sizing System Modifications Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Member Stories A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained. Required Changes Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item". "Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said. Marketplace Information The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members. It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
